Othilie "Tilly" Fleischer , married Heuser, second marriage to Grote-Fleischer (born October 2, 1911 in Frankfurt am Main , † July 14, 2005 in Lahr / Black Forest ), was a German athlete who was 1936 Olympic champion in the javelin throw .

Sporting successes

She took part in the Olympic Games in 1932 and 1936 as a javelin thrower , discus thrower and in the 4-by-100-meter relay .

  • At the Olympic Games in Los Angeles in 1932 , she was third in the javelin throw (43.00 m). In the discus throw she was fourth (36.12 m) and sixth with the relay.
  • At the 1936 Olympic Games in Berlin , she won the javelin throw with 45.18 m (38.60 - 44.69 - 43.01 - 38.87 - 45.18  - 42.19).

The city of Frankfurt gave her a car in recognition of her Olympic victory. She was also successful at the Women's World Games : in 1930 she was second in the discus throw (35.82 m), in 1934 second in the shot put (12.10 m).

biography

Tilly Fleischer started playing sport when she was ten. At the beginning of her sporting career she was also successful in tennis (Frankfurt champion) and handball (German champion with Eintracht Frankfurt ). As a track and field athlete, she also started for Eintracht Frankfurt. With a height of 1.68 m, she had a competition weight of 66 kg. After the Olympic Games in 1936, she ended her sports career.

After the Second World War , Fleischer owned two leather goods stores, in Lahr / Black Forest and in Kehl . She had two daughters from her first marriage.
