Ottmar Ostermayr

Ottmar Ostermayr (born October 24, 1886 in Munich ; † December 15, 1958 there ) was a German film producer .

Life

The brother of the film pioneer Peter Ostermayr and the director Franz Osten trained as a photographer at a technical college after graduating from primary school. He also initially worked as a photographer and in 1910 became an employee of Bernhard Gotthart's Express Films Co. mbH (1871–1950) in Freiburg im Breisgau .

From 1911 to 1914 he was a cameraman and assistant director for the Viennese film company Eclair. In 1918 he came to Berlin and found a job as a production manager at Decla . From 1919 to 1921 he worked as a film director for Münchner Lichtspielkunst AG ( Emelka ). From October 1920 to October 1921 he stayed in Romania.

In 1922 he went back to Berlin and worked as technical director for Decla Bioscop and UFA until 1926 . From December 1926 to August 1927 he worked in Hollywood as a production manager, after which he lived again in Germany.

Here and in Austria he took part in various functions in film production until 1945 . Even after the end of the war, Ottmar Ostermayr did not found his own production company, but instead worked with his brother Peter in the film production management or as an executive producer in his Ludwig Ganghofer adaptations.

He was buried in the Obermenzing forest cemetery in Munich.
