Life

family

Otto Berend was a member of the Baltic , more precisely Oesel , noble family von Möller. His parents were Wilhelm von Möller (1732–1781) and Margaretha Elisabeth von Engelhardt (1729–1812).

He married Juliana Elisabeth von Nolcken (1789–1879) in 1806 . The marriage resulted in 11 children. Including:

Career

Möller began his career in 1775 as a cadet . From 1779 to 1780 he was a volunteer in the British fleet as a guard . He was a Russian officer since 1780 and served in the Mediterranean from 1781 to 1782 , on the Caspian Flotilla from 1783 to 1792 and in the North Sea from 1795 to 1798 . In 1799 he was promoted to Captain II. Ranges and in 1803 to Captain I. Ranges . From 1803 to 1809 he was the head of the administration of the Reval war port . He was promoted to captain-commodore in 1808 and rear admiral in 1809 . From 1810 to 1813 port director in Kronstadt and director of the helmsman school. During the fighting in Courland in 1812 Möller was in command of the rowing flotilla on the Daugava and the Aa . From 1814 to 1821 he was in charge of the port expansion in Reval. In 1817 he led a squadron bought by Spain to Cádiz and was awarded the Grand Cross of the Order of Charles III. honored. From 1821 to 1828 he was chief of the naval staff and conductor of the naval ministry, and in 1822 he was also a member of the committee of ministers and the imperial council. Möller received his promotion to Vice Admiral in 1823 and the Order of St. Alexander Nevsky in December of the following year. Möller was Minister of the Navy from 1828 to 1836 and became Admiral in 1829.

In the governorate of St. Petersburg Möller had estates at Wruda and Zabickij / Shabitzy.
