Otto Erich Sigismund Heipertz , actually Otto Heipertz , always published as Otto E. Heipertz (born December 2, 1913 in Düsseldorf , † April 22, 1985 in Bonn ) was a German diplomat .

Life

Otto E. Heiperts was a son of the lawyer of the same name Otto Heipertz (1884–1954). The father was first mayor of Eisleben, then from 1920 to 1933 first mayor of Neustrelitz and Council of State (DVP).

From 1920 to 1923 Heipertz was a student at the community school in Neustrelitz, from 1923 to 1932 he attended the Carolinum humanistic grammar school in Neustrelitz and passed the Abitur with distinction. From 1932 to July 1933 he studied law and political science at the Universities of Rostock and Berlin . From July 1933 to 1934 Heipertz worked as a volunteer at the Mecklenburg Friedrich-Wilhelm Railway Company . From 1934 to 1939 he was employed at the Rechlin test center and at the Peenemünde Army Research Center . From May 1939 to November 1942 Heipertz was employed at the Reich Ministry of Aviation . From 1938 to May 1940 he studied at the University of Berlin and became a graduate economist . From December 1942 to May 8, 1945 Heipertz worked in the Prussian State Ministry in Berlin, where he was promoted to government councilor in August 1944 .

From September 1945 to February 1947 Heipertz was employed in the economics department of the Greater Berlin City Council. From February 1947 to August 1948 Heipertz was employed in the two-zone economic administration of Minden and Frankfurt am Main. From August 1948 to 1951, Heipertz was employed by Hinrich Wilhelm Kopf as a personal advisor . In 1951 Heipertz was paid by the Federal Ministry of the Interior and employed by the Federal Ministry of Economics. In 1952 he was seconded to the Foreign Office . In 1953 Heipertz joined the foreign service and was promoted to first class legation councilor . From 1953 to 1957 Heipertz was employed in the trade policy department. From 1957 to 1962 Heipertz was consul in Cape Town . From 1962 to 1965 Heipertz was accredited in Damascus. From 1965 to 1968 Heipertz headed a department in the Personnel Department of the Foreign Office in Bonn. In 1966 Heipertz was promoted to lecturing councilor, first class, and at the end of 1967 to ministerial conductor. Beginning with the Prague Spring , from February 1968 to December 10, 1973, Heipertz led the German trade mission in Prague . On December 11, 1973 he was appointed envoy Chargé d'Affaires and the trade mission upgraded to embassy.

voluntary work

Heipertz volunteered for the Mecklenburg Landsmannschaft : at the beginning of 1981 he founded the Kulturkreis Mecklenburg eV, based in Bonn, and was appointed its chairman. On November 20, 1981, he was elected Deputy Chairman of the Foundation Board of the Mecklenburg Foundation . He worked on the board of the old student body of the Carolinum Neustrelitz and took over the chairmanship on February 25, 1982. From 1981 to 1983 he was also a member of the editorial board of the magazine “Mecklenburg” published by the Landsmannschaft.
