Otto houses
Otto Häuser alias Ottokar Domma (born May 20, 1924 in Schankau (Czech : Čankov ) , Czechoslovakia ; † July 15, 2007 in Woltersdorf ) was a German writer and journalist who was best known for his satirical books, the main character of which was the student Ottokar Domma is. “Doma” means “houses” or “at home” in Russian ( Russian : дома [ dʌˈma ] = houses, plural of дом [ ˈdɔm ] = house).
biography
Otto Hauser grew up in Breitenbach , today Potůčky , near Johanngeorgenstadt in the Czechoslovak Sudetenland . It is said that he was expelled from school for insubordination towards 9th grade teachers. After completing an apprenticeship as a commercial applicant, he became a soldier. After military service in World War II , he became a new teacher at a village school in Saxony-Anhalt and later headmaster in Tangerhütte . He has been a writer since the 1950s . Otto Häuser was a qualified pedagogue and later a senior teacher. He lived in Schöneiche near Berlin .
Literary work
Hauser wrote for Eulenspiegel and wrote cabaret texts, especially for the Berlin teachers' cabaret "Die Lachberater". At the same time he wrote serious articles in the GDR on educational topics in New Germany .
His “Ottokar” series is prominent: From the perspective of twelve-year-old Ottokar Domma , he satirically described everyday life in an East German school and family - both before and after the fall of the Wall. These stories first appeared in the satirical magazine Eulenspiegel , and from 1967 in book form. For the Ottokar series, there were also two records with recordings of public events in which Hauser read, as well as the 1976 film Ottokar the World Improver . The books are also available in several edited volumes, e.g. B. as retrospectives of a good student (1993) or The thick Ottokar book (2004).

The painter Joachim Tilsch designed the three most prominent Schöneich entertainment artists in a picture with the title “Schöneicher Breakfast” for the central local shopping center, in addition to Heinz Schröder and Helga Hahnemann also Otto Häuser.
