Otto Holz (born July 25, 1902 in Roßlau , Zerbst district ; † August 30, 1963 ) was a German SED functionary. He was department head in the Central Party Control Commission (ZPKK) of the SED.

Life

Wood came from a working class family. He attended elementary school and completed an apprenticeship as a painter . He then worked in this profession. In 1919 he joined the SAJ , in 1921 the KJVD and the KPD. Between 1923 and 1928 he was head of the Dessau subdistrict of the KJVD. In 1928/29 he was the technical manager and cashier of the RFB -Gaus Magdeburg-Anhalt. In 1929 he became political director of the KPD sub-district of Dessau. In 1930/31 he was a student at the International Lenin School of the Comintern in Moscow . After his return, Holz acted again as political director of the KPD sub-district of Dessau. Between 1931 and 1933 Holz was a member of the Dessau municipal council.

After the " seizure of power " by the National Socialists , Holz continued to work illegally for the KPD. He was arrested on March 7, 1933 and held " protective custody " until April 1933 . Afterwards active again in the resistance he was arrested again in November 1934. Holz was sentenced to three and a half years in prison by the Berlin Supreme Court. After serving his sentence in the Coswig prison, however, he was not released, but continued to be held in the Börgermoor camp and then from 1938 to 1945 in the Sachsenhausen concentration camp .

In 1945 Holz became chairman of the local KPD group in Roßlau and was city councilor in Roßlau from 1945 to 1947. In 1946 he became a member of the SED and from 1947 to 1950 was first secretary of the SED district leadership in Zerbst . From 1950 to 1963 Holz was a member of the ZPKK, where he was head of the SED ZK.

His urn was buried in the "Pergolenweg" grave complex at the Socialist Memorial at the Friedrichsfelde Central Cemetery in Berlin-Lichtenberg .
