Otto Schuster

Otto Schuster (born July 27, 1925 in Hohenpeißenberg ) is a German journalist and publisher .

Life

Schuster was born the son of a miner . He first attended the Weilheim high school in Upper Bavaria and then successfully applied for the Reich School of the NSDAP Feldafing (RSF) in 1941 . His parents were against Schuster's ambitions. After graduating from high school in Feldafing, he signed up as a volunteer in the air force of the Wehrmacht in 1944 and was deployed in France and Holland . In 1999 he was involved in an anthology of contemporary witnesses on the subject of Nazi reading schools .

After the Second World War (1945) he began to study economics at the Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität in Munich , which he had to break off after his school education became known. Instead, he attended a journalism school from 1946 to 1947 and volunteered for a regional newspaper in 1948. From 1948 to 1950 he worked in the editorial department of the Freisinger Tagblatt in Freising and from 1950 to 1957 at the Isar-Post in Landshut .

In 1957 he came to Munich as an editor for Illustrierte Quick . In 1966 he moved to the development department of Axel Springer Verlag , where the magazines Eltern and Jasmin were taken care of. In 1968 he took over the deputy editor-in-chief of the monthly family magazine Eltern , from 1970 he was its editor-in-chief . In 1985 he became editor of the magazines at the publishing house Gruner + Jahr in Munich. He has been retired since 1990.

Schuster is married and has one child.
