Prince Rochus Otto Manderup Heinrich zu Lynar (born February 21, 1793 in Mecklenburg ; † November 9, 1860 in Dresden , Kingdom of Saxony ) was the landlord of Drehna in Lower Lusatia and Brandeis in Bohemia , member of the Brandenburg provincial council and formally of the Prussian state parliament . He wrote poems and dramas .

Life

Otto was the eldest son of Prince Moritz zu Lynar , registrar of Drehna and Brandeis, and Friederike Juliane Countess of Ranzau-Brahesburg. After the death of his father, he inherited his property and the title of prince. Otto had a pleasure garden built at Drehna Palace from around 1813. In 1817 he sold the Brandeis estate and in 1842 Vetschau Castle with the associated villages.

Prince Otto zu Lynar had been a representative of the Lower Lusatian gentry at the Brandenburg provincial parliaments since 1837. In 1845 he expressed his criticism of the impotence of this parliament. In 1847 Otto Fürst zu Lynar was a member of the unified state parliament, but since 1854 he no longer took his seat in the manor house of the Prussian state parliament.

After his death in 1860, the Drehna reign passed to his daughter-in-law Amalie Rosalie von Gollwitz, widow of his son Alfred from a morganatic marriage, as all three sons had already died. The princely title went to his youngest brother Ernst zu Lynar.

A volume of poems and two plays were printed by Otto zu Lynar.
