Ovid's Withering is an American deathcore band from Tampa , Florida, founded in 2010 .

history

Ovid's Withering was founded in 2010 in Tampa , Florida, by singer Andrew Zink, guitarists Aaron and Mark Rodriguez, bassist Matthew Suits and drummer Connor Reibling. Zink left the group in 2012 and was replaced by the 7-Horns-7-Eyes front man JJ Polachek, who stood in front of the microphone until 2015 when Cael Foster took his place. Connor Reibling was replaced on drums by Bo Blood just one year after it was founded. Blood remained an active member of the band for only one year and was replaced by Dustin Rogers, who played at Ovid's Withering until 2015. Founding member Mark Rodriguez was replaced by Eric Owen in 2011, but returned to the band in 2012.

Already in 2009, before the official founding, a demo with three tracks was released, titled after the band. In March 2012 the first official EP was released with The Cloud Gatherer . This was followed in December of the same year by a demo EP with a cover version of Michael Jackson's hit Thriller and a Zelda Medley. Another EP with two tracks was released in July 2013 with Terraphage . The debut album Scryers of the Ibis , which was first released in November 2013 on the Canadian label Subliminal Groove Records, was reissued the following year on Unique Leader Records .

In 2015 the group should release their second album. However, the band remained calm. In the meantime, rumors that one of the musicians was a pedophile were making the rounds, which led to the breakup of the band's line-up. The band was reanimated in 2016 with a new line-up and the musicians have been working on the sequel to their debut album ever since.

In June and July 2013, the group toured several US states with Sirens . In July and August Ovid's Withering toured North America with Arkaik and The Kennedy Veil in support of Australian metal band Psycroptic .

music

Ovid's Withering play symphonic and progressive deathcore with influences from technical death metal , whereby they also fall back on genre-typical features such as breakdowns . The musicians use orchestral and various electronic elements.
