Péter Kovács (historian)

Péter Kovács (* 1969 ) is a Hungarian historian , archaeologist and classical philologist .

Live and act

Péter Kovács received the Ph.D. in history from the Eötvös Loránd University in Budapest and in 2008 from the Hungarian Academy of Sciences the degree "Doctor of Sciences" (DSc) in the field of linguistics .

He has been teaching at the Péter Pázmány Catholic University in Piliscsaba since 1997 . In 2003 he completed his habilitation and in 2010 became professor of history at the Faculty of Humanities at the Péter Pázmány University. He also teaches at the National University of Public Service (Nemzeti Közszolgálati Egyetem).

His main research interests are provincial Roman archeology and the history of the Roman Empire . He also deals with epigraphy , especially with Latin and Greek inscriptions .

With Bence Fehér he is the editor of the Fontes Pannoniae Antiquae series , published by Károli Egyetemi.
