The 1915/16 season was the fifth regular season of the Pacific Coast Hockey Association (PCHA). The champions became the Portland Rosebuds .

Team changes

The following changes were made before the start of the season:

In the regular season, the four teams played 18 games each. The first place after the regular season became champions. Each team received two points for a win, one point for a tie and zero points for a defeat.

Season course

With the Seattle Metropolitans, another American team was accepted into the PCHA. Because of this, the league stepped up its efforts to poach players from the rival league National Hockey Association to meet the need for good players. Stars like Jack Walker , Frank Foyston , Cully Wilson , Eddie Carpenter and Hap Holmes could be lured into the PCHA, while the NHA recruited PCHA players Skinner Poulin , Frank Nighbor , Bert Lindsay and Walter Smaill in return . In their second season, the Portland Rosebuds won the league championship. Top scorer with 35 points was Cyclone Taylor , while Bernie Morris was the top scorer with 23 goals.

Stanley Cup Challenge

As the first American team ever, the Portland Rosebuds competed as PCHA champions for the Stanley Cup . In the playoffs they were defeated by the Canadiens de Montréal from the National Hockey Association in a best-of-five series with 2: 3 wins.
