Pablo Ervin Schmitz Simon OFMCap (born December 4, 1943 in Fond du Lac , Wisconsin , USA ) is an American religious and Roman Catholic bishop of Bluefields .

Life

Pablo Ervin Schmitz Simon entered the religious order of the Capuchin and received on 3 September 1970, the sacrament of Holy Orders .

On June 22, 1984 appointed him Pope John Paul II. To the titular of Elepla and ordered him to auxiliary bishop in Bluefields . The Apostolic Nuncio in Nicaragua , Archbishop Andrea Cordero Lanza di Montezemolo , donated him episcopal ordination on September 17th of the same year ; Co- consecrators were the Archbishop of Managua , Miguel Obando Bravo SDB , and the Vicar Apostolic of Bluefields, Salvador Albert Schlaefer Berg OFMCap. On July 28, 1994, John Paul II appointed him Vicar Apostolic of Bluefields.

With the elevation of the Apostolic Vicariate to the Diocese of Bluefields on November 30, 2017 by Pope Francis , he became its first diocesan bishop .

Since January 9, 2020 he has also been Apostolic Administrator of the vacant Diocese of Siuna .
