The Diocese of Bluefields ( Latin Diocesis Bluefieldensis , Spanish diócesis de Bluefields ) is in Nicaragua located Roman Catholic diocese based in Bluefields . It includes the autonomous region of Costa Caribe Sur .

history

Pope Pius X. first established the diocese as an Apostolic Vicariate on December 2, 1913 from cessions of territory from the Diocese of León en Nicaragua .

On November 30, 2017, Pope Francis elevated the Vicariate Apostolic to the Diocese of Buefields. At the same time, about two thirds of the territory were separated for the establishment of the Siuna diocese . Both dioceses were subordinated to the Archdiocese of Managua as suffragan dioceses .
