history

With the Apostolic Constitution Libenti quidem animo , Pope John Paul II founded the territorial prelature of Jinotega on June 18, 1982 from cession of territory by the diocese of Matagalpa . On April 30, 1991 she was raised to the diocese with the Apostolic Constitution Quod Praelatura Xinotegana .
