The Roman Catholic Diocese of Matagalpa ( Latin Dioecesis Matagalpensis , Spanish diócesis de Matagalpa ) is in Nicaragua located Roman Catholic diocese based in Matagalpa . It includes the Matagalpa department .
history
Pope Pius XI founded the diocese on December 19, 1924 from cessions of territory from the Archdiocese of Managua . On July 21, 1962, it lost part of the territory to the Juigalpa Territorial Prelature .
