Palmaiola is a small island in the Tuscan Archipelago in the Tyrrhenian Sea .

The island is east of the northeastern tip of Elba and southeast of Piombino . Administratively it belongs to the municipality of Rio on Elba . The island is approximately 0.08 km² and its highest point is 85 m high.

On the island there is a 1884 erbauter Lighthouse of the Italian Navy and a helipad.

Palmaiola is an important nesting site for sea ​​birds such as the rare coral gull and has therefore been placed under protection by the Tuscany region together with the neighboring island of Cerboli .
