Palmetto Records is an independent American record company and record label founded in 1990 in New York City by guitarist Matt Balitsaris and specializing in jazz .

After albums by Balitsaris, the label first released records by Greg Hatza , Peter Bernstein , Cecil McBee , Dewey Redman , and Matt Wilson . Meanwhile, Ben Allison , Lili Añel , David Berkman , Will Bernard , Betty Buckley , Joey Calderazzo , Frank Christian , Richard Davis , Marty Ehrlich , Peter Eldridge , Sara Gazarek , Larry Goldings , Fred Hersch , Andrew Hill , Javon Jackson , Frank Kimbrough also belong , Lee Konitz , Brian Landrus , Bill Mays , Kate McGarry , Chris McNulty , Mustard's Retreat , Ted Nash , the New York Voices , Noah Preminger , Bobby Previte , Lonnie Smith , Spectrum Road , Steve Swallow , Robert Walter , Bobby Watson or Matt Wilson to the artists of the label.
