Noah Preminger

Noah Preminger (born June 2, 1986 in Brooklyn , New York City ) is an American jazz musician ( tenor saxophone , composition ) of modern jazz .

Live and act

Preminger grew up in Canton (Connecticut) . In high school he took saxophone lessons from Dave Liebman and then went to study at the New England Conservatory . Shortly after his 21st birthday, he released his debut album Dry Bridge Road , which he recorded with Russ Johnson , Frank Kimbrough , Ben Monder , John Hébert and Ted Poor in 2007 and which was named Debut Album of the Year in the Village Voice's Critics Poll . In the following years he played a number of albums under his own name a. a. for the label Palmetto Records . He has also appeared with Billy Hart , Dave Holland , John Patitucci , Fred Hersch , Dave Douglas , Rudy Royston , Rob Garcia , Joe Lovano , Victor Lewis , John and Bucky Pizzarelli , Billy Drummond , George Cables , Roscoe Mitchell and Eddie Henderson . He recently played with Michael Feinberg in New York clubs such as 55 Bar and Smalls . With his quartet with Jason Palmer (trumpet), Kim Cass (bass) and Dan Weiss (drums) he also performed in Europe in 2019. In the field of jazz he was involved in 23 recording sessions between 2007 and 2018. In 2018 the album Preminger Plays Preminger , dedicated to the cousin of his grandfather Otto Preminger , was created with Jason Moran , Kim Cass and Marcus Gilmore . In 2017 he was the winner of the Down Beat Critics Poll in the Rising Star category .
