Paolo Pucci di Benisichi

Paolo Pucci di Benisichi (born February 15, 1941 in Palermo , † May 30, 2013 in Rome ) was an Italian diplomat who was Secretary General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs from 2005 to 2007.

Career

In 1963 he graduated from the University of Palermo with a law degree . In 1964 he joined the foreign service and was employed in the North Atlantic Council department .

From 1968 to 1970 he was employed in Buenos Aires. From 1971 to 1972 he was consul in Smirna. From 1973 to 1975 he was employed in Bucharest. From 1980 to 1983 he was employed at the Representation to the North Atlantic Pact in Brussels. In 1988 he was Head of Delegation of the Conference on Mutual and Balanced Force Reductions and the Conference on the Treaty on Conventional Armed Forces in Europe with the rank of Ambassador .

From 1994 and 1998 he was permanent representative of the Italian government at the Council of Europe in Strasbourg .

From 1998 to 2002 he was ambassador in Madrid with simultaneous accreditation in Andorra . Since 2003 he has headed the Europe department in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. He was then chief of the ceremonial.

He was Secretary General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs from July 18, 2005 until his retirement on September 12, 2007.
