Sir Charles Leslie Richardson , GCB , CBE , DSO (born August 11, 1908 , † February 7, 1994 in Betchworth , Surrey , England ) was a British officer in the British Army , who last served as General from 1965 to 1966 as Quartermaster General of the Army (Quartermaster -General to the Forces) and Master-General of the Ordnance between 1966 and 1971 . He then held the honorary post of Chief Royal Engineer from 1972 to 1977 and was as such head of the Corps of Royal Engineers .

Life

Officer training and World War II

Charles Leslie Richardson, son of Lieutenant Colonel CW Richardson, began after the visit of St Ronan's School in Hawkhurst to study at Clare College of the University of Cambridge and an officer training at the Royal Military Academy Woolwich . After graduation he was taken on August 30, 1928 as a lieutenant (Second Lieutenant) in the Corps of Royal Engineers of the British Army .
