Paolo Rumiz (born December 20, 1947 in Trieste , Free Territory of Trieste ) is an Italian journalist and writer.

Life

Paolo Rumiz started as a reporter for Il Piccolo in Trieste and then went to the La Repubblica newspaper . He wrote reports on the political dissolution of Yugoslavia . From November 2001 he was a correspondent in Islamabad and Kabul and experienced the war in Afghanistan .

Since 1998 Rumiz has been writing travel reports from his cycling and walking tours in Europe. He also went by balloon , traveled by rail and crossed the Apennines on a Topolino in 2007 . In 2012 he went down the river in a canoe, motor cutter and sailboat on the Po . Films have also been produced from his travels. In 2014 he lived for three months on a lighthouse on a small Mediterranean island. In 2015 he went on a hike with friends on the Via Appia from Rome to Brindisi , the report in the Repubblica prompted Culture Minister Dario Franceschini to provide budget funds for a path for lay pilgrims.
