The Parazenidae are a family of the Petersfischischen (Zeiformes). The fish live in the Atlantic , Indian and Pacific at depths of 140 to 700 meters. The family is divided into two subfamilies, the Cyttopsinae and the monotypical Parazeninae.
features
The species of the Parazenidae are eight to 31 centimeters long. They have a laterally flattened body covered with small ctenoid scales and 34 vertebrae . Your premaxillary can be strongly extended.
Fins formula : dorsal VI – VIII / 26–30, anal I / 31, ventral 1/6, pectoral 13–16, caudal 11.
The species of the family have two lateral lines that unite behind the soft-rayed dorsal fin.
