history

The PSC was founded on May 15, 1985 to distinguish it from the socialist and progressive Partido dos Trabalhadores . However, the entry in the register of parties entitled to vote was not made until March 29, 1990. It bears the number 20 on ballot papers.

On July 17, 2015 Everaldo Pereira, known in Brazil as Pastor Everaldo , took over the chairmanship of the party after he had already served as vice-president of the PSC from July 17, 2003 to July 16, 2015. Pastor Everaldo embodies the political line of the party: anti-communist , against homosexual marriages , against abortion and the relaxation of drug laws.
