Passion was a German rock band whose style was based on the music of the Middle Ages and the Renaissance and differed from other rock bands through the combination of conventional rock instruments with vibraphone , violin and a four-part recorder set .

Band history

Passion was founded in 1975 as an amateur band in Nebra . In 1978 Wilfried Alma Gutjahr took over the organizational management of the band. Under the musical direction of Ulrich Schroedter and Reiner Trautmann, Passion, which initially mainly had classics by Kansas and Gentle Giant in its repertoire , developed its own musical style, which was unusual for the time. In the period that followed, the first original compositions were created, several national prizes were won and, with 3 musketeers , Because I want to live and sew a button to your ear, they were able to record their first own titles on the radio in the GDR . In 1980 Passion became a professional formation. Her best-known compositions include Apple Song , Candlelight and Morgendämmerung / Herzallerliebstes Mädel , which were published in 1981 on the Amiga sampler Kleeblatt 1/81 . In the same year the singer Karsten Knabe left the band. Lutz Salzwedel came for him, but he switched to Karussell in 1983 . His successor was Holger Jahn. Passion received little attention from the audience and the media, so the band split up in 1984. Ulrich Schroedter switched to Dialog and now plays in the Leipzig formation Takayo . Gutjahr, Mücke, Kris and Jahn founded the band Caesar's rock band together with Peter Cäsar Gläser .

In 1990 the band gave two reunion concerts in Berlin and Naumburg .
