The Passumpsic River is a right tributary of the Connecticut River in the US state of Vermont .

The Passumpsic River arises at the confluence of its two headwaters East Branch and West Branch Passumpsic River northeast of Lyndonville in the Town of Lyndon . It flows south on the western outskirts of Lyndonville. In St. Johnsbury , the Moose River , its largest tributary, flows into the river on the left. Further downstream are the hamlets of Passumpsic and East Barnet , which are part of the Town of Barnet . After 23 miles, the Passumpsic River meets the Connecticut River north of Barnet. The US Highway 5 , the Interstate 91 and a rail line running along the river. The Passumpsic River drains an area of ​​1298 km².

East Branch Passumpsic River

The East Branch Passumpsic River has its origin in the Town of Brighton . From there it flows over a distance of 31 km in a south-southwest direction to its union with the West Branch.
