Lyndonville is a village in the town of Lyndon in Caledonia County of the state of Vermont in the United States with a population of 1,172 (according to the 2010 census). Village Lyndonville is centrally located in Town Lyndon on the White River Junction – Lennoxville railway line . It borders Lyndon Center to the west and the Passumpsic River flows along the western border .
history
The Grant for Lyndon was proclaimed on November 2, 1780 by the Vermont Republic . It was given to Jonathan Arnold and 53 other settler families on November 20, 1780. The Village Lyndonville was declared a incorporated village on December 24, 1880.
There is a private high school in the village, the Lyndon Institute as well as Lyndon State College . Also a park, Bandstand Park, previously known as Lyndonville Park . The Lyndonville Electric Department and the Water Department are also located.
The Darling Inn , a former hotel, was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1980.
