Caledonia County is a county in the state of Vermont in the United States . The county seat is in St. Johnsbury .

The county is located in northeast Vermont, borders New Hampshire to the southeast and has an area of ​​1,703 square kilometers, of which 18 square kilometers are water. It is bordered clockwise by the following counties: Orleans County , Essex County , Grafton County, New Hampshire, Washington County , Orange County, and Lamoille County .

The county had a population of 29,702 as of the 2000 census . There were 11,663 households and 7,895 families. The population density was 18 people per square kilometer. The racial the population was composed of 97.48% white, 0.29% African American, 0.55% Native American, 0.37% Asian, 0.01% Pacific islander and 0.23% other ethnic groups; 1.07% were from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race was 0.68% of the population.

Of the 11,663 households, 32.40% had children and young people under the age of 18 living with them. 53.60% were married couples living together, 10.40% were single mothers. 32.30% were not families. 25.60% were single households and 11.00% had someone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.46 and the average family size was 2.95.
