Patoum

Patoum (actually René Ono-Dit-Biot , born May 26, 1911 in Boulogne-sur-Mer ; † April 5, 2012 in Vers-sur-Selle , Somme department ) was a French jazz and entertainment musician ( drums , vocals , also Clarinet and trumpet ).

Live and act

From 1945 onwards, Patoum worked in the orchestra of Jo Bouillon , with whom he accompanied Joséphine Baker . In the following years he worked with Ray Ventura and in the early 1950s with Jacques Hélian , with whom he made recordings for Pathé in 1951 . He can be heard as a singer with Hélian in titles such as “Après la pluie, le beau temps” (with Ginette Garcin, Jo Charrier and Jean Marco). As a musician he worked with Hélian's orchestra in the films Musique en tête (1951, directed by Georges Combret and Claude Orval ), Romances et rythmes (1952) and Tambour battant (1953, both by Georges Combret).

In the later years Patoum was active as a drummer and also as a clarinetist in various jazz bands such as the City Jazzers , mostly with his friend André Paquinet . Patoum wrote the chanson "Môme rustine" for Bourvil . Patoum was a local jazz musician until the late 2000s.
