Patrick Couture (born May 28, 1978 in Québec City , Québec ) is a former Canadian ice hockey goalkeeper . He played with the no longer existing Eisbären Regensburg .

Career

He started ice skating at the age of three and made his first attempts at goal for an ice hockey team when he was five. His first stop in his professional career was the Beauport Harfangs , with whom he signed a contract in 1995. There he took on the role of the second goalkeeper, behind Martin Biron , who currently plays with the Philadelphia Flyers in the NHL .

Then he tried it in the QMJHL at the Val-d'Or Foreurs , but this time he could not prevail as the first goalkeeper because he had Roberto Luongo , a current goalkeeper, in front of him. In the 1997/1998 season he played in the QMJHL with the Quebec Remparts , where he scored an average of only 1.85. This is a better cut than that of goalkeeper legend Patrick Roy . In 2003 he ventured overseas to join the Tölzer Löwen . There he was able to assert himself as the first goalkeeper from the start and quickly became a crowd favorite. He is considered one of the best keepers the Isarwinkler ever had.

In Bad Tölz he played very successfully until 2005. Then he switched to the mosquitoes in Essen for a season . But in the first game against the Dresdner Eislöwen he injured himself so badly that he had to take a break for a large part of the season and never really got back to his old form in Essen.

In 2006 he signed a one-year contract with Eisbären Regensburg , which was later extended. He was named the best player of the 2006/07 season by fans of the polar bears.
