Patrick Manning Kerney (* the thirtieth December 1976 in Trenton , New Jersey ) is a former American American football poker players on the position of the defensive ends . In his career he played for the Atlanta Falcons and the Seattle Seahawks in the National Football League (NFL) for eleven years .

Early years

Kerney attended high school in Watertown , Connecticut . He later attended the University of Virginia , where he scored 127 tackles and 24 sacks in three years for the college football team.

NFL

Atlanta Falcons

Patrick Kerney was selected 30th in the first round of the 1999 NFL Draft by the Atlanta Falcons . In his first year in the NFL, he scored 25 tackles and 2.5 sacks for the Falcons. Two years later , in the 2001 season , he scored 12 sacks. In early 2002, Kerney signed a seven-year contract with the Falcons. After the 2004 season , Kerney was elected to the Pro Bowl for the first time after scoring 13 sacks in the season and preventing eight passes. On the ninth day of the 2006 season , Kerney was injured, so he spent the remainder of the season on the Injured Reserve List .

Seattle Seahawks

On February 23, 2007, Kerney took advantage of a clause in his contract with the Falcons to sign a six-year contract with the Seattle Seahawks . In his first season with the Seahawks, he achieved his career high of 14.5 sacks and was elected to the Pro Bowl for the second time. He missed the Pro Bowl game due to a shoulder injury. On April 13, 2010, he announced the end of his career.

Personal

Kerney has four sisters and one brother who died when Patrick was little. He is married to the former sports reporter Lisa Kerney , with her he has four children.
