Paul Heidemann
Paul Heidemann (born October 26, 1884 in Cologne , † June 20, 1968 in Berlin ) was a German actor , film director and film producer .
Life
After completing a commercial apprenticeship in the cigar industry, he took acting lessons from the Meiningen court actor Leopold Teller. He made his debut in Hanau in 1906 as Hereditary Prince Karl-Heinz in the operetta Alt-Heidelberg .
In 1909 he came to the Schauspielhaus Breslau , where he sang either boy or girl in Bruno Granichstaeden's operetta . Heidemann acquired the reputation of a talented comedian here and was brought to Berlin in 1911 on the recommendation of the composer Jean Gilbert . There he made his debut in Gilbert's play Die chaste Susanne .
Franz Porten discovered him for the film, where he played his first leading role in 1912 in The Brandmark of Her Past . From 1914 to 1918 he mainly played the comic title characters in the comedy series "Teddy" and "Paulchen" . There is an early crossover , the film Paul and Teddy , in which Heidemann both plays in a double role. Sometimes he also directed.
In the 20s, Heidemann became a supporting actor who for decades could be seen in a large number of films of all kinds, but especially in comedies. At the same time he played on stages in Berlin, mainly in operettas.
During the Second World War, Heidemann worked again as a film director and staged some comedy material. In the 1950s he took on roles again in several German productions as well as in some DEFA films .
