Paul Moeller (builder)

Paul Moeller (born July 19, 1855 in Schwerin , † after 1903) was a German architect and imperial naval port builder.

Life

Paul Moeller was born in 1855 in the capital of the then Duchy of Mecklenburg-Schwerin "[...] as the son of the railway controller Ernst Moeller". There and in Malchin the boy went through his first school education before he passed his Abitur at the Schwerin high school in 1875 after the establishment of the German Empire . He then went through his military service as a one-year volunteer with the Holstein Field Artillery Regiment No. 24 .

From autumn 1876 Paul Moeller studied architecture in Hanover at the Technical University there . Since then, Moeller has worked as a site manager on several large projects, including the construction of the Weser Bridge in Hoya .

In 1886, Paul Moeller passed his master builder exam , was appointed "government master builder" in the same year and was then active in this role in the construction of the Kaiser Wilhelm Canal . Here he was particularly involved in the construction of the lock in Holtenau and the further expansion of the canal. A lasting friendship developed between Moeller and his then superior Ludwig Brennecke . After Brennecke had transferred to the administration of the Reichsmarine , Moeller followed him there in 1892.

In 1893, the Royal Government Builder in Kiel sought to be released from the service of Prussia , but in the same year was raised to "[...] the regular naval port builder" and transferred to the Imperial Shipyard in Wilhelmshaven on May 1st of that year .

In 1903, the German Emperor Wilhelm II awarded the two naval harbor builders Heinrich Mönch and Paul Moeller, who worked at the Kaiserliche Werft in Kiel, with the Order of the Red Eagle, IV class .
