Paul Schäfer (born November 17, 1881 in Berka / Werra , † April 5, 1962 in West Berlin ) was a German gynecologist and university professor.

Life

Paul Schäfer studied medicine at the Albert Ludwig University of Freiburg . In 1902 he was reciprocated in the Corps Hasso-Borussia Freiburg . After completing his studies and doctorate as Dr. med. he became assistant and later senior physician to Karl Franz and Ernst Bumm . In 1916 his habilitation and appointment as a private lecturer took place in Berlin . In 1921 he was appointed associate professor for obstetrics and gynecology and in 1939 an adjunct professor . In 1948 he was appointed professor at the Free University of Berlin . From 1924 to 1953 he was medical director of the hospital for obstetrics and gynecology in Berlin-Charlottenburg, which he expanded into a university clinic after the Free University of Berlin was founded. Schäfer published on gynecological-surgical technology, carcinoma radiation and puerperal fever.
