Paul Tigges

Paul Tigges (born November 16, 1922 in Fredeburg ; † July 29, 2006 ) was a German teacher and author .

Career

Paul Tigges was born in 1922 as the son of a locomotive driver in Fredeburg , which has belonged to the town of Schmallenberg since 1975 . In 1930 his family moved to Altenhundem , where Tigges first attended elementary school before taking his Abitur in Attendorn in 1941 . Immediately after graduating from high school, Paul Tigges came to Finland , Russia and Norway as a soldier in World War II , where he became a British prisoner of war in 1945 .

After the war Tigges began a teaching degree the subjects German , history and Latin for schools at the universities of Marburg and Munich , 1951, he passed his state examination.

After completing his legal clerkship in Dortmund and Siegen , Paul Tigges worked at high schools in Medebach and Lennestadt . In 1967 he campaigned for the establishment of the Maria Königin private grammar school , which is run by the missionaries of the Holy Family in Altenhundem, and was the headmaster here from 1967 until his retirement in 1986 .

Tigges was involved in local politics for the CDU and was chairman of the Hundem-Lenne cultural community for seven years. In addition, he was a founding member and board member of the Christine Koch Society for the Promotion of Literature in the Sauerland.

Paul Tigges has been a book author since 1983 and, in addition to volumes of poetry and novels with autobiographical elements, has written nonfiction books that deal with the era of National Socialism .

Honors

In 2000 he was awarded the Federal Cross of Merit on ribbon for his research and publications in this area . He is also an honorary citizen of the city of Lennestadt.
