Paula Stewart (actually Dorothy Paula Zürndorfer ; born April 9, 1929 in Chicago , Illinois ) is an American actress and singer .

Life

Paula Stewart's parents were Dr. Walter Zürndorfer and Esther Morris, an actress. Stewart attended Shimer College at Mount Carroll , where she graduated in 1947. Stewart then studied at Northwestern University . Her first stage appearance was on a nationwide tour of the musical Brigadoon . In 1951, Stewart made her Broadway debut in the play Seventeen .

In 1960 she played alongside Lucille Ball, her sister in the musical Wildcat at the Alvin Theater . In addition to her career as a musical artist, Stewart has also appeared in shows at the Waldorf Astoria Hotel in New York, the Fontainebleau Miami Beach and in Las Vegas . Together with her then-husband Jack Carter , she made appearances for US troops stationed in Germany in the 1960s, under the direction of the United Service Organizations .

In addition to her stage career, Stewart has also appeared in several films and as a guest actress in various television series since 1956, including in 1965 in A Cage Full of Heroes and in Perry Mason . In 1970 she was the producer of the drama Dinah East with Ultra Violet in the lead role. Stewart played her last film role in 1990 in the television production Against Her Will .

Paula Stewart was married twice. From 1953 to 1958 with Burt Bacharach , then from 1961 to 1970 with Jack Carter. Both marriages ended in divorce. She has a son with Carter. Stewart still appears as an actress on Broadway and in other theaters across the country.
