Paula Maria von Hafe Teixeira da Cruz (born June 1, 1960 in Luanda , Portuguese West Africa , now Angola ) is a Portuguese lawyer and politician. Since June 21, 2011, she has been Minister of Justice in the Passos Coelho cabinet .

Life

Teixeira Cruz was born on June 1, 1960 in what was then the Portuguese overseas province of Portuguese West Africa (now Angola). In 1975 she and her parents fled the province that had been given independence back to Lisbon. There she began her law studies at the Free University of Lisbon in 1983 . Until 1987 she also taught at the university and at the law faculty of the University of Lisbon in the field of administrative law. She also taught in the same area at the University of Finance from 1991 to 1992.

Professional career

In 1992 Teixeira da Cruz opened her own law firm on Lisbon's Rua Garrett . In 1996 she joined the large law firm F. Castelo Branco & Associados, where she coordinated the area of ​​public, administrative and environmental law. Party political career

Paula Teixeira da Cruz has been a member of the Portuguese Social Democrats (PSD) since 1995 .
