Paulo César Costa

Paulo César Costa (born July 20, 1967 in Valença ) is a Brazilian clergyman and Roman Catholic bishop of São Carlos .

Life

Paulo César Costa received the sacrament of ordination for the diocese of Valença on December 5, 1992 .

On November 24, 2010, Pope Benedict XVI appointed him . the titular bishop of Oescus and auxiliary bishop in Rio de Janeiro . The Archbishop of São Sebastião do Rio de Janeiro, Orani Tempesta OCist , donated him and the Auxiliary Bishops Pedro Cunha Cruz and Nelson Francelino Ferreira, who were appointed at the same time, the episcopal ordination on February 5, 2011 ; Co- consecrators were the bishop emeritus of Nova Friburgo , Rafael Llano Cifuentes , and the bishop of Valença, Elias James Manning OFMConv .

Pope Francis appointed him Bishop of São Carlos on June 22, 2016. The inauguration took place on August 6th of the same year. On April 20, 2020, Pope Francis also appointed him a member of the Pontifical Commission for Latin America .

On July 4, 2020, Pope Francis appointed him a member of the Pontifical Council for Promoting Christian Unity .
