The Pauluskirche (more precisely: Church of St. Paulus ) is a Catholic parish church in the Düsseldorf district of Düsseltal . The parish of St. Paulus is part of the Flingern / Düsseltal parish association .

history

It was built in the neo-Romanesque style and rebuilt in a modified form after the destruction of the Second World War .

The Pauluskirche was built between 1910 and 1913 by the Düsseldorf architect Josef Kleesattel . It is designed as a five-aisled neo-Romanesque basilica and has a double tower facade . There is a Lady Chapel in one of the aisles.

The church was largely destroyed in World War II. After the war, the largely intact double tower facade was restored. The nave, on the other hand, was redesigned by Hans Schwippert , including the remains that were still standing.

In addition to the baptismal font from 1956, a statue of the Madonna from around 1300 and a man of Sorrows from the 14th century, donated to the community, are special sights .

The modern sacred furnishings come from Fritz Schwerdt and include u. a. a red enamelled tabernacle and six large altar candlesticks at the high altar, a likewise red enamelled perpetual light stand (now used as an Easter candlestick ), a cross with rock crystals and ivory body along with two seven-armed candlesticks for the crypt , as well as a small, enamelled lecture cross with a wooden core and a tabernacle for them holy oils in the Lady Chapel.
