Pedro Bantigue y Natividad

Pedro Bantigue y Natividad (born January 31, 1920 in Hagonoy , † November 20, 2012 in San Pablo City ) was a Filipino clergyman of the Roman Catholic Church and Bishop of San Pablo .

Life

Pedro Bantigue y Natividad received on 31 May 1945, the sacrament of Holy Orders . He holds a PhD in Canon Law (JCD) and Theology (DD) . From 1945 to 1954 he was secretary to Archbishops Michael J. O'Doherty , Gabriel M. Reyes and Rufino Jiao Santos .

Pope John XXIII appointed him on May 29, 1961 titular bishop of Catula and auxiliary bishop in Manila . The Archbishop of Manila, Rufino Jiao Cardinal Santos , donated him episcopal ordination on July 25, 1961 ; Co- consecrators were Juan Bautista Velasco Díaz OP , Bishop of Hsiamen-Amoy , and Wilhelm Josef Duschak SVD , Vicar Apostolic of Calapan . He was the council father of the third session of the Second Vatican Council .

On January 26, 1967 he was by Paul VI. Appointed first Bishop of San Pablo and introduced to office on April 18, 1967. On July 12, 1995, Pope John Paul II accepted his age-related resignation.

He was a member of the Bishops' Conference of the Philippines (CBCP), particularly active in the Marriage Court and as chairman of the Commission for Life, Clergy and Prison Chaplaincy . In 1976 he was responsible for the finances of the CBCP.
