Pedro Hestnes

Pedro Hestnes (* 1962 in Lisbon ; † June 20, 2011 there ) was a Portuguese actor .

Life

Hestnes was born in Lisbon in 1962, the son of the architect Raúl Hestnes Ferreira . His grandfather was the writer José Gomes Ferreira . Hestnes lived his youth in different places of residence in the USA, in Paris, Lisbon and Porto. In the early 1980s he trained at the Escola de Formação Teatral do Centro Cultural theater school in Évora . In 1982 he was on stage for the first time as an actor in the theater ensemble there. A large number of theater roles followed, primarily in productions by Luís Varela or Mário Barradas .

At the end of 1985 João Canijo won him as an actor for the Portuguese Cinema . Hestnes then left the ensemble in Évora and from then on devoted himself exclusively to film. He was then seen in a number of well-known films, including O Sangue (1989) by Pedro Costa and Xavier (1992) by Manuel Mozos . A variety of roles followed, also internationally.

He made his last film shoots for Catarina Ruivo's film Em Segunda Mão , whose editing he no longer saw. Pedro Hestnes died of cancer on June 20, 2011.
