Pedro Luis Ronchino

Pedro Luis Ronchino SDB (born June 18, 1928 in Rosario ; † July 1, 2020 in Córdoba ) was an Argentine religious and Roman Catholic bishop of Comodoro Rivadavia .

Life

Pedro Luis Ronchino, son of Italian immigrants, joined the Order of the Salesians of Don Bosco in 1937 at the Collegio San Giuseppe di Rosario . He made his profession on January 30, 1951 in the Salesian house "La Trinidad" in Ferré (Buenos Aires) and received his theological training in the Clemente Villada in Cordoba. On August 1, 1954, he was ordained a priest by Archbishop Ramón José Castellano . At the Pontifical Salesian University "Rebaudengo" in Turin he completed a PhD in philosophy.

In 1958 he returned to Argentina and in 1966 became director of the theological studies in Villada and two years later of the post-novitiate of Michele Rua . In 1968 he was appointed rector of the Pontifical Salesian University in Rome and in 1975 he returned to Argentina and became vicar general of the Diocese of Comodoro Rivadavia . After the death of Bishop Argimiro Daniel Moure Piñeiro SDB, he was diocesan administrator in Comodoro Rivadavia in 1992 | 93 .

Pope John Paul II appointed him Bishop of Comodoro Rivadavia on January 30, 1993 . The Archbishop of Buenos Aires , Antonio Cardinal Quarracino , donated him episcopal ordination on March 19 of the same year ; Co- consecrators were Rómulo García , Archbishop of Bahía Blanca , and Jorge Arturo Meinvielle SDB, Bishop of Concepción . His episcopal motto was "Oh María, Madre mía". On February 19, 2005, Pope John Paul II accepted his age-related resignation.
