The Beijing Railway Station ( Chinese  北京站 , Pinyin Běijīng Zhàn ) is next to the Western Railway Station and the South Station one of three major railway stations of Beijing .

With the opening of the west train station in 1996 and the new south train station in 2008, the central train station lost its importance, but is still used by 120,000 to 150,000 travelers every day.

location

The train station is centrally located near Jianguomen within the 2nd ring road . The main building gives access to several waiting rooms. Access to the platforms is only possible for passengers with valid tickets. There are counters for ticket sales in an adjacent building.

history

The first previous building was built in 1901 and expanded a short time later. The current building was erected as one of the “Ten Big Buildings” (“十大 建筑”) on the tenth anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic and was then considered a successful combination of traditional and modern architectural styles (“ socialist classicism ”).
