The Pensacola Bay Center (originally Pensacola Civic Center ) is a multi-purpose arena in Pensacola , Florida .
history
The multi-purpose hall was designed by the architect Lindley Renken. The foundation stone for the building was laid in 1983. Dyson Construction, LLC built the hall for two years. It cost 20.5 million US dollars . The arena was opened on January 21, 1985. The hall is owned by Escambia County and is managed and serviced by SMG Property Management. The hall has a maximum audience capacity of 12,000 for concerts and 8,150 for hockey competitions .
Tournaments of the disciplines basketball and indoor soccer are also held at the Pensacola Bay Center. Sports teams that had their home venue in the hall are the Pensacola Tornados (1985–1991), the Pensacola HotShots (1991–1992), the Pensacola Ice Pilots (1996–2008), the Pensacola Flyers (1998) and the Pensacola Barracudas ( 2000-2002). The Pensacola Ice Flyers have been based here since 2009 .
Concert events by international artists from the music industry such as Eric Clapton , Janet Jackson , Britney Spears , Michael Jackson , AC / DC , Page & Plant , David Bowie , Rush , Van Halen , Ariana Grande and Lynyrd Skynyrd have already taken place here.
