Pepe Angelillo
José "Pepe" Angelillo (born September 19, 1960 in Tandil ) is an Argentine jazz pianist , arranger and composer .
Live and act
Angelillo went to La Plata in 1980, where he studied harmony , form theory and counterpoint with Manolo Juárez , Sergio Balderrabano and Sergio Hualpa in 1988 and completed classical piano training with Martha Bogiorno , Mónica Opansky , Maruja Callejas , and later with Haydee Schvartz . From 1996 he turned to jazz music . In addition to self-taught studies, he took lessons from Abel Patrone and attended workshops by Joe Zawinul and Dave Holland . He teaches jazz music at the Conservatorio Provincial Gilardo Gilardi .
As a jazz musician, he participated several times in the El Bolson Jazz Festival , the Festival Jazz en Abril , the La Plata Jazz Festival , the Festival Internacional Buenos Aires Jazz , and in 2011 the Festival Internacional de Rosario and the Festival Mar del Plata Jazz . He worked and works regularly with Argentine musicians like Cuchi Leguizamón , Pocho Lapouble , Mingo Martino , Pablo Ledesma , Néstor Gómez , Negro González , Hernán Merlo , Ricardo Lew , Matías González , Horacio López , Mono Hurtado , Quique Sinesi , Alejandro De Mowgli , Oscar Giunta , Mono Izaurralde , Alejandro Herrera , Sergio Poli , Fefe Botti , Sergio Petravich , Gustavo Bergalli , Americo Belloto , Marcelo Serena , Omar Gomez , Ezequiel Piazza , Carlos Lastra , Pablo Puntoriero , Jorge Lopez Ruiz , Mariano Sivori and international musicians like George Haslam , Paul Hession , Elton Dean , Erling Kroner , Hillard Green , Claudio Rossi , Anna Maria Mussachio , Ximo Tebar , Marcelo Cohelo , Cucho Arbañil and Dick Miñako Sanchez and is a member of Brian Adler's international project Helio , in which Rodrigo Domínguez was also involved in Argentina , Pipi Piazzolla , Jerónimo Carmona , Martín Delasalletta and Pablo Ledesma.
Angelillo works with Pablo Ledesma in proyecto M y M on the music of Thelonious Monk and Charles Mingus , is pianist in the quartet of violinist Sergio Poli and leads his own trio with drummer Daniel Viera and double bass player Marcelo Friedman . He worked as an accompanist on 15 recordings and released three albums of his own: Reflexiones (2004), Modo Monk (2007) and Quiet Now (2010).
