Per Geijer

Per Adolf Geijer (* May 7th [rarely July 7th ] 1886 in Stockholm , † April 18, 1976 in Danderyd ) was a Swedish mineralogist and geologist. He dealt mainly with ores and their deposits in Sweden, especially in Värmland and Norrbotten , and with the Precambrian in Scandinavia.

Geijer was the son of the military Salomon Gottschalk Alfons Geijer. In 1910 he received a Dr. phil. in petrography . Geijer initially worked as a lecturer at Stockholm University . He worked for Sveriges geologiska undersökning from 1914 to 1931 , again as director from 1941 to 1951. From 1931 to 1941 Geijer held a professorship for mineralogy and geology at the Royal Technical University in Stockholm. Nils Harald Magnusson was his successor in both positions . In retirement, Geijer continued to be scientifically active.

In 1958 Geijer was elected to the National Academy of Sciences as a Foreign Associate . The mineral Perit (PbBiO 2 Cl) is named after him.

His grave is in Djursholm .
