Pere Maria Orts i Bosch

Pere Maria Orts i Bosch (born July 5, 1921 in Valencia ; † February 26, 2015 ibid) was a Valencian writer , historian , researcher , heraldist and art collector . He was a member of the Valencian Academy of Language . In 2006 he was awarded the highest distinction of the Generalitat Valenciana (Valencian regional government).

Life

He attended the Piarist high school in Valencia. Although he law graduate of the University of Valencia in 1945, and although his grandfather Pere Maria location i was Berdin (1839) Judge of the Superior Court of Valencia, he never worked as a lawyer.

When he was 45 years old, Orts moved to Benidorm , where his father's family lived. Its aim was to research topics directly related to the area of la Marina ( Marina Alta and Marina Baixa ). He hoped to find documents and works of art from the ancient Kingdom of Valencia . He wished to complete the old Valencian patrimony and parts of its lost history. As a patron, he increased his family's fortune by purchasing various works of art. He looked for special objects in libraries, archives and museums outside the Valencia region . At the end of his life he donated this large art collection to a number of Valencian public institutions.

Legacies

Among his other donations there were 3 tapestries, 7 chalices, various chandeliers, 9 pieces of furniture, and even a silver desk.

He also wrote many articles on the history of Benidorm and the toponymy of Marina Baixa in the magazine of the Festivals of Benidorm. He also wrote various forewords for other books and articles for anthologies . He also worked on studies of genealogy and heraldry for the Great Encyclopedia of the Valencian Land (1972–1977).
