Perené is a small town in the Chanchamayo Province in the Junín administrative region in central Peru . It is the administrative seat of the Perené district of the same name .
Geographical location
The city is located in the Peruvian Central Cordillera about 240 km northeast of the Peruvian capital Lima . The small town located at an altitude of 621 m lies on both sides of the Río Perené at the confluence of its tributary Río Huatziroqui . The national road 5S leads from La Merced past Perené to Pichanaqui .
The population of Perené was 6005 in 1993, 6909 in 2007 and 6733 in 2017.
