Perotó is a town in the Beni department in the lowlands of the South American Andean state of Bolivia .

Perotó is the central place of the canton Perotó in the district ( Bolivian : Municipio ) San Andrés in the province of Marbán . The village is located at an altitude of 165  m on a left tributary of the Río Mariquipiri , which flows into the Río Mamoré north of Trinidad near San Javier .

Perotó is located in the Bolivian lowlands in the Moxos plain , with over 100,000 km² one of the largest wetlands on earth. The predominant form of vegetation in the San Andrés region is the tropical savannah .

The annual average temperature is 26 ° C (see climate diagram Trinidad), with the monthly average temperatures between June / July at a good 23 ° C and October / December of just under 28 ° C only slightly different. The annual precipitation is almost 2000 mm and is therefore more than twice as high as the precipitation in Central Europe. Perotó is 38 kilometers south-east of Trinidad , the capital of the department.

From Perotó , a dirt road leads four kilometers north to the neighboring town of Somopae and from there another kilometer to the Ruta 9 trunk road . The Ruta 9 crosses the entire Bolivian lowland in a north-south direction, from Guayaramerin in the northeast of the country to Trinidad and past Somopae to the lowland metropolis of Santa Cruz and on to Yacuiba on the Argentine border.
