Somopae is a town in the Beni department in the lowlands of the South American Andean state of Bolivia .

Somopae is the eighth largest town in the canton of Perotó in the district ( Bolivian : Municipio ) of San Andrés in the province of Marbán . The village is located at an altitude of 163  m on a left tributary of the Río Mariquipiri , which flows north of Trinidad at San Javier into the Río Mamoré .

Somopae is located in the Bolivian lowlands in the Moxos plain , with over 100,000 km² one of the largest wetlands on earth. The predominant form of vegetation in the San Andrés region is the tropical savannah .

The annual average temperature is 26 ° C (see climate diagram Trinidad), with the monthly average temperatures between June / July at a good 23 ° C and October / December of just under 28 ° C only slightly different.
