Pete Carpenter
Peter Clarence "Pete" Carpenter (* 1. April 1914 ; † 18th October 1987 ) was an American jazz - trombone player , arranger and composer of theme songs for the television .

Carpenter began his career as a composer for television series such as In Love with a Witch (1964) and the Andy Griffith Show (1966-1967). From 1968 he worked with Mike Post until his death . Both had their breakthrough in 1974 with the theme song for Detective Rockford - a call is enough with James Garner . For this they received a Grammy Award and were among the top ten on the US Billboard charts .
Over the years they have composed numerous theme songs, including for CHiPs , Magnum , Die Schnüffler , Das A-Team , Hardcastle & McCormick , Trio with Four Fists , Hunter , Stingray and Vanishing Point San Francisco .
Pete Carpenter was married with two children.
